Why the open live music is not good to use headphones

Some people said that the live version of the music is really HIFI and it’s the highest state, but some people said that the open live music is not good to use headphones.

 

Open concert is crowded, and play seriously, vibration cause heart pain. The human voice doesn’t sound like good like to use headphone, it just like reading the lyrics.

 

The sound is the beauty part of the music.

 

People listen to t music from headphone often feel beautiful, in fact, it’s the beauty of sound. Sound is the very important part of music. The song from singer is composed of fundamental tone + overtone, the fundamental tone determines the pitch, the overtone determines the sound. Pitch and singer’s tone is closely related. Sometimes, we say someone sing out of tune, it just because the pitch is wrong. However, the sound determines the music "beauty", it is easy to "lose".

 

The human ear is a magical thing. Because of the internal structure, the ear’s sound sensitivity to each band is different. And the sound in different frequency bands should reach the different volume, so as to be "sound enough" , we can refer to the following figure (equal loudness curve). The volume of 20 dB in 1KHZ is equal to 45 dB in 100HZ.

 

 

 

The sound is covered instead of not beautiful in fact.

 

But because of the masking effect, it’s most likely to feel the low frequency in the concert, the sound of the pound cover the singer's wonderful tone. The energy of low frequency is very strong, with a strong penetrating power. For example, a country's infrasound weapons with a strong lethality.

 

And the sound of the people in the middle frequency and high frequency are more easy to decay, so the sound that determined by the middle frequency and high frequency can not hear  with the open field, so the feeling is not good to hear.

 

And usually , the music we hear by headphone is most recorded in the studio, and later adjusted, so it sounds more "complete" and wonderful.

 

But the we can’t feel the atmosphere of the live that like interaction between singers and fans, screams from fans in the studio.
